Much Anticipated Field Hearing Planned on Proposed Rule

E&E Daily reports today that the House Natural Resources Committee is planning to hold a hearing in West Virginia on September 26 on the proposed stream protection rule being developed by the Office of Surface Mining, Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM). The Natural Resources Committee is chaired by Doc Hastings (R.-WA), who wrote a letter in February to Joseph Pizarchik, Director of OSM, expressing concern that the Obama Administration is proposing sweeping new rewrites to coal mining regulations that will cost U.S. jobs and decrease American energy production.
