Apart from the absence of an economic case for carbon capture and sequestration (CCS), this NY Times article notes that public opposition presents another obstacle to deployment of CCS technology. “Numby” – not under my backyard – has taken the place of “nimby” – not in my backyard – in the case of CCS projects, and developers will need to devote some resources to outreach and education to build public acceptance for the technology.
